Baby Owl

This Ural owlet in Hokkaido was born a week earlier and, as of the taking of this photo, had hardly budged from this position. She passively felt the wind and patiently waited for food. Sometimes smiling, sometimes scratching, sometimes sleeping – she stood as a sentinel of simplicity, transcending the bustle of the world around her and, as I observed her over the passing days, I confess that she helped to seep away some of my own stress.
